Why This Page Exists
You might have come here looking for a "review board" page. We want to be straightforward: Sixpacks.fit does not have a review board. We previously published a page listing two reviewers, but those individuals were not real. That was a mistake, and we have removed it. This page replaces it with an honest description of how content review actually works on this site.
Who Reviews Content
Sixpacks.fit is independently operated by one person. There is no team of editors, no medical board, and no panel of credentialed reviewers. Every calculator and every article is reviewed by the site operator before it is published. That means one person checks the work, but it also means there is one person who is directly accountable for everything on the site.
The Review Process
Before any calculator or article goes live, it goes through the following steps:
1. Source Verification
Every calculator starts with a formula. The first step is confirming that the formula comes from a legitimate, published source. We look for the original research paper, a recognized health organization's methodology, or a widely cited standard.
2. Implementation Testing
Once the formula is coded in JavaScript, we test it with known inputs. If the source methodology includes example calculations, we check that our calculator produces the same results.
3. Cross-Check Against Existing Tools
We compare our calculator's output against other established online calculators that use the same formula. If our results differ, we trace the difference back through the code to find the cause.
4. Content Review
For articles and explanatory text, the site operator reviews the content for accuracy, clarity, and proper sourcing. Claims are checked against the cited sources to make sure they are represented correctly and not exaggerated.
5. Final Check Before Publishing
Before anything goes live, the site operator does a final read-through of the entire page: calculator inputs and outputs, instructions, explanations, disclaimers, and formatting.
What We Do Not Claim
- We do not claim that our content is reviewed by licensed physicians.
- We do not claim that our content is reviewed by registered dietitians.
- We do not claim any medical, nutritional, or fitness certifications.
- We do not claim compliance with HONcode or any third-party health content certification.
- We do not claim that our review process is equivalent to peer review or clinical validation.
How Errors Are Handled
- We acknowledge the error. If an error is found, we add a correction note to the page.
- We fix it. The calculator code or article text is updated as quickly as possible.
- We document what changed. The correction note includes what was wrong, when it was identified, when it was fixed, and what the correct information is.
- We investigate the cause. If the error was in a formula implementation, we check whether the same mistake affects other calculators.
If you find something you believe is incorrect, email us at team.sixpacks.fit@gmail.com.
Periodic Reviews
Even when no errors are reported, we periodically go back through our calculators and articles to make sure everything is still current. Formulas rarely change, but occasionally a new version of an equation is published or a health organization updates its guidelines.
Limitations of This Process
- It can catch implementation errors. Testing against known values catches most coding mistakes.
- It can catch factual errors in articles. Cross-referencing with sources catches most inaccuracies.
- It cannot replace expert review. A single reviewer without medical credentials may miss nuances that a licensed physician or registered dietitian would catch.
- It cannot validate the formulas themselves. We implement published formulas as described in their sources. We do not conduct independent research to validate them.
